About Ulises

“Home” since 1993 following his assignment to Luke AFB, Ulises was inspired into the helping profession through volunteerism with a central Phoenix inner city ministry.  In 2007, Ulises completed his Master’s in Professional Counseling through Ottawa University, achieving LPC and LMFT independent licensure in 2011 and 2015.  Passionate about his community Ulises founded Light of Life Counseling Services in 2014 to assist the under serviced residents of the far west valley.  Ulises incorporates Attachment theory and Solution Focused therapy to encourage desired change by helping client’s beak unhealthy cycles of past relationships while embracing the process of growth.  Ulises is trained in CBT, TF-CBT and CPT and incorporates solution focused approaches to reinforce change outside of therapy.  Serving as a Military Officer, inner city minister, addictions therapist, crisis counselor and family therapist in community and private practice mental health, Ulises has 20+ years of experience helping clients with their mental health and emotional needs.  Outside of work, Ulises is highly involved with his sons’ school and sports activities, volunteering as a community sports coach, and assisting at his church.

About Rachel

Originally from Southern CA, Rachel earned a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy through Pepperdine University in 2005, achieving LMFT independent licensure in 2010.  Her wide range of experience includes individual, child and family therapy in group homes, schools, and outpatient addiction and Seriously Mentally Ill adult residential programs.  Rachel approaches therapy through Object Relations and Attachment theory which aid clients understand how past relationships with care givers, influence present attitudes, thoughts and reactiveness in relationships.  Rachel is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Play therapy.  Through empowering and advocating, Rachel assists clients discover and understand existing strengths and coping skills to promote personal growth and desired change.  Rachel is an army wife of 20+ years and has a heart for serving military families and veterans. When Rachel is not working she is highly involved with her children’s academic and sports activities.

About Amie

Arriving with her family to Luke AFB in 1981, Amie considers herself an Arizona native despite further military deployments and moves.  While at Misawa AB, Amie became interested in working with children, teens and families through base Family Advocacy services. Amie has 15+ years of clinical experience through in-home services, community-based and outpatient programs, crisis intervention programs.  Amie is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (TF-CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapies (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapies (DBT-Adult/Teen), Somatic Experiencing Informed Therapies, Crisis Intervention, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR-Adult/Teen) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR-Adult/Teen). Amie is invested in neurobiological-informed whole-person approaches emphasizing Behavioral and Social Learning, Psychosocial Development, Transpersonal, and Psychodynamic Theoretical Approaches, which look at behavior and problems through individual, relational, and systems contexts.  She generally incorporates an integrated therapies approach to teach her client’s how to live mindfully, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve interpersonal relationships.  When not working, Amie enjoys reading literary fiction, traveling to explore familiar and new places, going on walks or hikes, and spending time with her family.

About Natalie

Natalie Aug completed a master’s in arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Grand Canyon University in 2024.  Experienced in both residential and outpatient service settings, Natalie believes that achieving desired change and personal growth is only possibly through a genuinely warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment.   Natalie serves all populations but feels most passionate about working with teens and adults. Natalie is trained in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, Teen and Young Adult Concerns, life-transitions, and stress-management.  Natalie offers individual counseling, and family therapy.  Natalie is presently supervised by Ulises Gonzalez and Michelle Lunka.

Natalie’s therapeutic approach includes Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy.

About Andrea

Andrea is completing the Practicum and Internship requirements in the master’s in social work (MSW) Degree through Grand Canyon University.  Andrea is supervised by Ulises Gonzalez, and Michelle Lunka and will be accepting new clients through May 2025.  Andrea has previous experience providing out patient therapy to children and adults.  Andrea also has experience as a Behavioral Coach in residential settings.
